Online Payments for Property Taxes, Utilities, and Accounts Receivable

For your convenience, the Town of Golden has made arrangements with several financial institutions to allow for online payments of Property Taxes, Utilities, and some Invoices (Accounts Receivable).

In order to take advantage of online bill payments, you will need to set up the appropriate bill through your financial institution. When setting up your bill, please make sure that you search for the “Golden” as the payee. It is important to select the correct payee:

Golden (Town of) – Taxes
Your TAX account number for your property tax payments is your roll number. It can be found on your property tax notice and should be entered in the following format: ########.

Golden (Town of) – Utilities
Your UTILITY account number can be found on your utility bill, you must use your utility account (not your roll number) and should be entered in the following format: ########.

Golden (Town of) – Accts Rec
Your ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE account number for your payments is alphanumeric. It can be found on your Accounts Receivable invoice and should be entered in the following format: X####.

Note: It is very important that you pay the correct bill online. The Town of Golden cannot process Utility Bill Payments for your Property Tax Payments or vice versa. Payments are automatically loaded and will be applied to the account they are received on.

Representatives from your financial institution can assist you with setting up your online bill payment, and will provide you with any additional support you may need. Bring copies of your bills with you to your financial institution, as this may be a requirement.

Payments through financial institutions typically take at least 4 business days to process your payment. To avoid late charges on your account please allow for the processing time prior to your DUE DATE.

Can I pay my taxes with my credit card?

The Town has considered the option of allowing credit card payments as a means of enhancing our customer service. Unfortunately, there is a 2% (or more) processing fee charged for credit card transactions. The Town's total levy for taxes (including taxes collected for other levels of Government) is more than $7 million. If, for example, all taxpayers paid their taxes by credit card, the Town would need to reduce services and/or raise the tax rates to recover the more than $14 thousand additional dollars required to cover the bank charges for the credit card transactions. At this time, our priority is to keep our rates as low as we can. For this reason, we are not currently accepting credit card payments.

Property Tax Payment Plan – Bylaw #1208

Tax payers have the option to participate in a Property Tax Payment Plan. The property tax account does not need to be current, meaning there can be a balance owing on account. Please note that interest on arrears and delinquent balances as well as penalties due on the balance outstanding after the tax deadline will continue to be incurred until such time as the balance is paid in full. Participants who wish to participate in the plan must apply every year by filling out a Property Tax Payment Plan Application Form (PDF) and agreeing to the Terms and Conditions. (Forms are available at Town Hall or can be accessed by clicking the link).

Property Tax Prepayment Plan - Bylaw #1176

Tax payers have the option to participate in a Property Tax Prepayment Plan. The property tax account must be current, meaning there can be no outstanding property taxes against the property. Participants who wish to participate in the plan must apply every year by filling out a Property Tax Prepayment Plan Application Form (PDF) and agreeing to the Terms and Conditions. (Forms are available at Town Hall or can be accessed by clicking the link).
