Hours of Operation: Easter Weekend 2020 Print Article Font Size

We are adjusting our hours of operation for Easter Weekend April 10-13. All Town of Golden services will be closed April 10-13. Please note all Town facilities have already been closed to the public due to COVID-19 and will remain closed after the long weekend. Staff will once again be available on April 14 by phone or email.

We would like to remind residents that over the long weekend it is important to continue following the orders and recommendations of the Provincial and Federal Health Officers. Here are some reminders for you and your family over the long weekend:

  • Now is not the time to travel. Stay in your community and stay home as much as possible.
  • Practice physical distancing! If you are going outside your home, stay at least 2 metres (6 feet) from others.
  • Town park spaces remain open, but you must practice physical distancing. If you show up at a park and it’s busy, leave and come back later.
  • Absolutely NO group gatherings. Connect and celebrate the holidays with family and friends virtually.
  • If you have just returned from outside of Canada it is mandatory to quarantine for 14 days after your return. If you do not follow these federal orders you may be fined or even arrested for non-compliance.
  • The Government of BC has officially closed all BC Parks. All parks, protected areas, conservancies and recreation areas are closed, and all camping (front and backcountry) is now banned until May 31. View the details here: http://bcparks.ca/covid-19/

As we spend more time at home, it’s also important to be a good neighbour. Here are just a few ways you can be a good neighbor based on our Town bylaws:
  • Work on construction and demolition projects, including using your power tools, during specified times. The noise bylaw allows these types of activities to take place between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon and 9 p.m. on Sundays.
  • It’s spring cleaning time, make sure you also maintain your property and yard.
  • When having a backyard fire make sure it’s a small fire and supervised at all times. Open burning is currently banned in our area, that means no fires bigger than 2 metres high and 3 metres wide or grass over an area less than 0.2 hectares in size.

Have a great long weekend and stay safe and healthy!
